Job Summary:
The Nuclear Power Plant Security Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all security operations within the nuclear power plant facility. This role is crucial to maintaining a safe and secure environment, ensuring the protection of personnel, assets, and the surrounding community. The Security Manager will develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and regulations, while effectively leading a team of security personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive security plans, policies, and procedures to safeguard the nuclear power plant facility and its assets.
- Oversee and manage all security operations, including access control systems, CCTV surveillance, alarm systems, and incident response protocols.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and other relevant governing bodies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as plant management, engineering, and emergency response teams, to ensure security measures align with operational needs and requirements.
- Manage and lead a team of security personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and conduct security training programs for employees to enhance awareness and response capabilities.
- Coordinate and liaise with local law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and other external stakeholders on security-related matters.
- Investigate and report security incidents, breaches, or potential threats, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements in security systems and protocols.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, preferably within a nuclear power plant or other highly regulated industry.
- In-depth knowledge of nuclear power plant security regulations, including NRC and FEMA requirements.
- Strong understanding of security risk assessment methodologies and incident response protocols.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor security personnel.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
- Proficiency in using security systems, access control software, and video surveillance technologies.
